August Writing Update

I have been named recipient of another prize for unpublished writing. I won't name the prize, as the public announcement has not yet been made, but suffice to say I will receive $500 and, to my understanding, an unbelievable number of books. This for an esoteric piece of literary criticism composed originally for a course last semester. The judges offered the most astounding approbation, saying, among other things, that the piece constituted a truly valuable contribution to general literary discourse.

In other news, it looks like I won't be attending any of my publisher's convention booths. I've arranged to go to Toronto this month for Fan Expo, but I just received word that the publisher didn't get enough confirmation from authors to justify setting up a booth. I suppose there's still a possibility I could go to Toronto again in September for the official release party, but I don't think it would be much to my benefit.

Lastly, my story "Fulghum's Synthitar," which was published on Cezanne's Carrot last December, will be making appearance in another e-zine in the near future.
